We cannot thank you enough for allowing us to stay in this wonderful old home. I have lived in Piggott most of my life and I never knew about this wonderful place. We found the home to be exactly what we needed. I know I have never slept in a bed as comfortable as the one in this home.
Listening to the train in the distance made me feel as if I were home again.
I do so miss Piggott. Our short trip was chocked full of places to go and people to see including having a picnic with my daughter at her grave. Having her daughter, our graddaughter, stay with us and listen to her plans and dreams after her graduation and play UNO with her to the wee hours of the morning was something I will never forget. To have her lie across the end of our bed and tell us how she has missed us and loved us filled my heart with what I will need to get me along since I have returned to South Dakota.
We will return hopefully in a few months. Hope we get another chance to stay at Rose Dale Farm. Thank you.

Just Like Grandma's
I’ve taken my family to Rose Dale Farm many times over the years. It’s a place where my grandchildren can get a glimpse of the life I enjoyed when I was their age.
I grew up with a love for the rural South although my dad moved farther and farther away in pursuit of better jobs. I always looked forward to visits with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who still lived near Piggott. Whether helping out a little on the farm or in the garden, catching a stringer of bream, or playing a game of cards called Pitch on a rainy day, it was the vacation I looked forward to the most.
Things have changed over time, but Rose Dale Farm is just like grandma’s. It’s a cozy little place with comfy beds. However, it’s been beautifully restored with modern conveniences including cable TV and WiFi. Thank the Lord for air-conditioning. It even has a washer and dryer if needed.
I can bring my grandkids and avoid having to rent multiple hotel rooms. I can have the benefit of the feel of home in a quiet location while staying close to restaurants or fast food if that’s what the kids want. I can also invite relatives and friends over for coffee or dinner at “our place,” and let them carry on with their busy schedules without having to care for us.
Our host, Bert, is most gracious. He ensures that Rose Dale Farm is well maintained and spotless. He keeps the large bathroom stocked with an abundance of fluffy towels, and stocks the kitchen with our requested breakfast items along with a few of our favorite snacks. He’s on standby 24/7 to assist in any way possible.
Letting anyone know about Rose Dale Farm is kind of like letting someone in on the location of a great place to fish. Still, I can’t stay there all the time even though I’d like to.
